Thus proving, once again, I will literally blow money on anything.
I am a classic consumer, just a textbook case. This purchase is the most clear depiction of that, and honestly, it’s infuriating.
Anyway, onto the case.
Let me set the scene for you… It’s 2019, the year of financially savvy millennials who are working tooth and nail to grab their future by the metaphorical balls… Apple releases the Smart Battery Case for the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR - for $199 AUD. You’d think they wouldn’t sell, right? Wrong.
Almost the minute it came out - I bought one. I didn’t even think about it, I just know my battery doesn’t last as long as I want it to and I needed a case, so why not kill two birds with one stone?
Because it’s $200 Charlie, you idiot.
Features include and are limited to:
Charging your battery.
Covering the back of your phone.
Making your phone heavy.
Needing charging.
It’s been a few days and my battery life has been awesome (up to 20 hours), the wireless charging is cool and the case doesn’t get overly warm, which is a pleasant surprise. Also, it fits on my iPhone X, barely even notice the gap around the camera, not unless I’m really looking.
That’s it though, that’s the features. That’s $200 worth of features.
The fact that the aesthetic is kind of lacking and the build quality around the silence switch is pretty shit is a tad disappointing, but hey, it’s a charger stuck to my phone and I am forgetful - so thanks for designing it at all, because I never would have.
The case makes your phone roughly 1 kg or a little more, I haven’t weighed it since purchasing, I can just feel the gains happening and am finding myself less and less happy to be on the phone without my AirPods - that’s fucking right, I bought those too - greatest purchase I’ve made in the headphones department though, absolutely froth them.
Would I buy it again? Probably, I’m a sucker and I love that sweet, sweet screen time.
Should you buy it? Look man, if you have disposable income and battery life is super important to you, go ahead, if not - Save yo money and remember to charge your phone.
